وہ بولی \'مجھے آئس کریم پسند ہے\'
یہ 'direct speech' ہے - ہم کسی کی کہی گئی بات کو، انھیں کے ’بولنے والے‘ الفاظ میں دہرا رہے ہیں۔
کیونکہ بولنے والا خود کو 'I' سے مخاطب کرتا ہے، اس لئے جب ہم انھیں کے الفاظ میں بات دہراتے ہیں، تو کہے گئے جملہ میں 'I' آتا ہے۔
جب ہم بولنے والے کے الفاظ میں بات دہراتے ہیں، تو کہے گئے جملہ کو 'inverted commas' کے اندر لکھتے ہیں۔
کیونکہ بولنے والا خود کو 'I' سے مخاطب کرتا ہے، اس لئے جب ہم انھیں کے الفاظ میں بات دہراتے ہیں، تو کہے گئے جملہ میں 'I' آتا ہے۔
جب ہم بولنے والے کے الفاظ میں بات دہراتے ہیں، تو کہے گئے جملہ کو 'inverted commas' کے اندر لکھتے ہیں۔

یہاں بولنے والا ’she' ‘3rd person' ہے۔ اس لئے جب ہم اس کی بات کو دہراتے ہیں، تو ہم اس کو 'she' سے ہی مخاطب کرتے ہیں۔

یہاں آپ خود کے ذریعہ کہی گئی بات کو ہی رپورٹ کر رہے ہیں۔ یہاں بولنے والے آپ خود ہیں ’I‘۔
اس لئے رپورٹیڈ اسپیچ میں personal pronoun - 'I', نہیں بدلے گا۔ کیونکہ آپ خود کے الفاط میں بات کرتے وقت، خود کو 'I' سے ہی مخاطب کریں گے۔

پہلے جملہ میں کیونکہ direct speech ہے، ہم بات کو بولنے والے کے الفاظ میں دہرا رہے ہیں۔

اس نے نیہا سے کہا کہ وہ حسین ہے
یہاں You -> She میں اس لئے بدلا، کیونکہ رپورٹ کرتے وقت، 'Neha' آپ کے لئے 3rd person ہے ’غائب صیغہ‘ ہے۔
Reported speech میں نیہا 2nd person اس لئے نہیں ہے، کیونکہ آپ سیدھے اس سے بات نہیں کر رہے ہیں۔

Reported speech: یہاں work-> worked میں بدل گیا کیونکہ رپورٹیڈ اسپیچ کا ’verb ‘said زمانۂ ماضی میں ہے۔ جب ہم direct speech کو reported speech میں بدلتے ہیں، تو اگر ’reported verb ‘eg: said زمانۂ ماضی میں ہو، تو reported speech کا tense, ہمیشہ direct speech میں دیئے tense کا زمانۂ ماضی شکل بن جاتا ہے
کبھی کبھی ایسے جملوں میں tense نہیں بدلتا - یہ تب ہوتا ہے، جب، ہم جو بول رہے ہیں، وہ اب بھی سچ ہو، یا کوئی 'universal truth' ہو
‘eg: The Sun is a star‘.
