Bangkok is hot = กรุงเทพฯอากาศร้อน
Bangkok is hottest city in Thailand = กรุงเทพฯเป็นเมืองที่ร้อนที่สุดในประเทศไทย
คำว่า 'hottest' คือรูปคำคุณศัพท์ขึ้นสูงสุดของ 'hot' ซึ่ง Superlative degree คือรูปของการเปรียบเทียบคำคุณศัพท์ขั้นสูงสุด

ซึ่งในภาษาไทยนั้นเราจะใช้คำว่า 'ที่สุด' ไว้ข้างหลังคำคุณศัพท์ ซึ่งจะไม่เหมือนกับหลักของไวยากรณ์อังกฤษ

She is the shortest girl in our class = เธอเป็นสาวที่เตี้ยที่สุดในชั้นเรียนของเรา
กฎข้อที่ 1:
สร้างคำคุณศัพท์ขั้นสูงสุดด้วยการเติม '-est' ไว้ข้างหลังคำคุณศัพท์
Short -> Shortest
คำว่า 'shortest' เป็นคำคุณศัพท์ขั้นสูงสุดของ 'short'

โครงสร้าง: the + adjective + est

She is the prettiest girl in the world = เธอเป็นผู้หญิงที่สวยที่สุดในโลก
กฎข้อที่ 2:
สร้างคำคุณศัพท์ขั้นสูงสุดของคำคุณศัพท์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย 'y' ด้วยการเปลี่ยน 'y' เป็น 'iest'.

The + adjective(-y+i) + est
Pretty -> Prett - y -> Prett+iest ->Prettiest

กฎข้อที่ 3:
เราสามารถสร้างคำคุณศัพท์ขั้นสูงสุดของคำคุณศัพท์บางคำได้ด้วยการเติม 'most' ไว้ก่อนหน้าคำคุณศัพท์นั้น

The + most + intelligent

คำว่า 'Most intelligent' คือรูปคำคุณศัพท์ขึ้นสูงสุดของ 'inteligent'
